I think records of older routes are exactly that — a record of a previous time, where the context, information, understanding and tolerances may have been different. Going forward, route naming might attract a little more attention (maybe). Lots of established routes have names that could be considered unacceptable by today’s standards. But old route names are not the issue here, current inappropriate naming is.
